Who We Are

Marie
My whimsical creativity with food has never let me rest. Every time I think I have it out of my system a new recipe sparks unquenchable inspiration. I bring a wide variety of chef and baking talents to the butcher block and work hard to keep things fresh and exciting. I hope you'll not only enjoy, but covet indulging in the wild things we create.
Brenda
Steeped in experience but still vibrant, I bring a fanciful touch to old favorites from Grandma's cookbook. Anyone that says a new twist on a classic ruins the tradition hasn't tasted my fudge. Over the years my experiments with modern techniques have transformed recipes handed down for generations into exciting, unique, and satisfying sweets.
Family
If you're going to eat something with as much sugar and as many calories as our sweets, shouldn't it be as clean as possible? We appreciate organic practices as much as you do. We come from generations of committed bakers and hold tight to tradition far outdating modern techniques. These traditions keep our minds centered on sustainable... Read More

What's shaking in the Wild Sugar Shack...

Onward and upward | June 4, 2025

It's amazing how time flies. The official start to summer is only a whisper away and I find myself restless for the chilled desserts of July and August. I recently enjoyed a champagne zabaglione over strawberries with friends and I'm pondering a renewed dive into cheesecake. Ages ago, in what feels like another lifetime, I had a small cheesecake business. Rosewater, lavender, and marionberry, were a few of my original recipes and the heady scent of spring blooms in the air is carrying my mind to new possibilities. I'm always ready to explore new flavors and this season I think I'll give dragon fruit, lychee, and honeysuckle a shot. They sound like great flavors to #rewildcuisine with this summer. Check out the progress on Instagram, cheers!

Wild like wildflowers | May 24, 2025

If you follow us on social media you may have seen our recent post about #rewildingcuisine. Before yesterday the hashtag didn't exist, and that's exciting. When we started Wild Sugar this was our long term goal and intention; not to bring wild and crazy, but baking born from the wilds of nature. We aren't all about colors or other additives that are harmful to your health just to make baking look good. We are about reaching back for our roots and inspiration from nature to bring a few of the old ways back to current practices. We bake from scratch, like our great grandparents used to decades ago. We take our time, try to use seasonal items, and cherish things as unprocessed as possible. It isn't always possible, because culture has changed to be driven by convenience, ease, and cost; but where it is possible, we do it. Just like a lot of folks are rewilding their lawns with natural clover and drought resistant plants to replace what was ripped out before we realized the damage those changes have on our ecosystem, we try to bake and cook keeping sustainability in mind. We avoid plastic wherever possible, use organic foods, and are mindful of reducing waste. Over the next few weeks I'll be showing off some of the things that make us who we are even if they're not baking. Because I believe we should support practices that will keep our planet, and each other, happy and healthy, in whole, as long as possible.

Inspiration has hit | February 22, 2025

For most people food is enjoyment, but for a chef or baker food is a journey, even an adventure. When boredom strikes I stroll through the kitchen. Sometimes I use magazines, Instagram, or my favorite shows to spur my imagination. Once I've tried a recipe it never fails that I want to make it different, make it better, or create a new variety. My most recent adventure has been cinnamon rolls. They were a family favorite when my grandmother made them, but she never made them with chocolate and marshmallow. Cross your fingers, here goes nothing...

2025 Here we come! | January 25, 2025

Raspberry, caramel, and lemon truffles are on the list for testing and launch this year, along with so much more! Stay tuned, it's shaping up to be a sweet year.
